Semans Library UNC School of the Arts
Designed to inspire the students that use it, the new Semans Library at the UNC School of the Arts in North Carolina offers expansive views across the campus and beyond. Set on the highest point of the campus, it serves as a focal point for the surrounding area.
Bringing natural light into educational buildings is vitally important for student health and well-being, but it’s a delicate balancing act to avoid glare and solar heat gain which is particularly prevalent in buildings with large expanses of glass.
Our external solar shading can help achieve that balance, enabling large expanses of glass and views outside, whilst providing sufficient shading to reduce glare and solar heat gain. For the Semans Library CS provided 12” and 18” vertical airfoil blades across the west facade of the building, creating a modern, eye catching exterior, and a cool comfortable interior for students.
